"We need Greenland for national security and even international security," the Traitor said during his address. "I think we're going to get it. One way or the other, we're going to get it."

Why does Trump continue to threaten Canada (and Panama and Greenland)?

There are two main reasons;  Trump is a shit-talking bully who gets off on being an asshole insulting people while he's got a literal army standing behind him.  Also, once Trump undertakes a course of action he can never admit he was wrong even in the slightest degree.  Trump was Right is one of the catechisms of MAGA and so Trump has to be "right" about Canada becoming our cherished 51st State and about getting Greenland "one way or another".

So, at no point when asked by the Media can Trump claim he was not absolute sincere and correct about annexing Canada.  Today, DonOld quite matter-of-factly continued to declare Canada isn't a country as it was formed by a drawn line and only works as a State.  And today's reporting is Trump has military plans for taking the Panama Canal, after he told the Nation, "my administration will be reclaiming the Panama Canal."  Of course, the Corporate Media would never be so gauche as to properly call this an act of war but continue use the "reclaiming" euphemism.

I've asked some standard Reactionaries if there is any problem at all to them with a President seeming to threaten War with Canada or Denmark or Panama.  They simply laugh it off and resort to the "Can't take him literally or seriously" and man it sure is funny how he negged and trolled Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

What Trump learned in his first term was the constraints on him were self-imposed.  I've written before Trump understands "The Law", as a perfect Platonic Ideal existing in the firmament, does not exist.  His complaints about Weaponized Department of Justice were a fulfillment of the Every Accusation Is A Confession so often found amongst Republican politicians.  Trump knows "The Law" is whatever he says it is because America is not a Nation of Laws but of Men and with the power of his cult, his fawning Corporate Media fans, his cowed Republican lawmakers, and his co-conspirators in the Supremacist Court he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants to whomever he wants.

He also knows that politics matches TV with episodic narratives being more important than an over-arching storyline or plot arc.  So if it's Tariffs today or No Tariffs today his cult will declare it the best move ever by any American President!  If it's threatening Canada, or Greenland, or Panama;  well, that's shrewd business acumen and leader of the free world strength and not the syphilitic whims of a madman.  If it's strong-arming Zelenskyy to turning over Ukraine's "Raw Earth" and helping Putin reverse his defeat in Ukraine that's a Real Peacemaker!  Or causing a recession and bankrupting Americans retirement savings while stealing Social Security Trump really means Trump is looking out for the Working Class!

In the worst case scenario, Musk in a Ketamine induced haze orders US military assets to strike targets in Canada for failing to protect his Tesla dealerships or claims a Canadian government hacker conducted a DDOS attack on Twitter (X) and declares a Casus Beli.  This preposterous sequence of events would have been declined as too fantastical and silly by even Tom Clancy's editors.  Yet, here we are...

And here's the worst and most frightening aspect.  No one is coming to save us.  Canada and Denmark are not going to invoke Article 5 of the NATO compact (based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter) in the face of continued bellicose rhetoric and even if Trump were to get Greenland or Panama by direct military action.  The Democratic Party leadership does not seem up to the task.  The Corporate Media, Banking institutions, CEOs have thrown in with Trump (as he knew they would) and even with him cratering the economy aren't really doing anything.  The Republican Party is fully MAGA now, and any holdouts from previous iterations are content to go along.

So, either the Fascist Fever griping Us breaks or the Nation does...

Gen. of NATO joking with Trump about Greenland like this,” Rasmus Jarlov, chairman of the defense committee in Denmark’s parliament posted on X Thursday. “It would mean war between two NATO countries. Greenland has just voted against immediate independence from Denmark and does not want to be American ever.”

I'm stunned.  A War with Denmark?  Trump wants to be remembered forever, destroying NATO and forming his Russian-American Alliance would make him Infamous and his Presidency would indeed be spoken about for decades to come.
