Victory in Iraq Day, One Year Later

Disgusting Warmongers, REMFpublican apologists and Chicken Hawk Cowards last year declared 11/22/08 to be Victory in Iraq Day:
We won. The Iraq War is over.

I declare November 22, 2008 to be "Victory in Iraq Day." (Hereafter known as "VI Day.") ~ Zomblog, Zombietime
This craven maneuver was an attempt to salvage the legacy of Bush and Cheney. Giving them One Win (Iraq) and Two Losses (Bin Laden 9/11) and One Tie (Afghanistan) in Republican War Accounting and ignoring the Bush/Cheney Legacy of Hundreds of Thousands of Deaths.

However, focusing just on Iraq since VI- Day 161 Americans have been killed and 688 wounded. But I'm certain Zombtime has consoled each and every grieving mother of the dead and the fathers of the maimed and wounded by telling them they can sleep better knowing that President Bush "technically" Won in Iraq on 11/22/08 and their child isn't a Casualty of War.

What these jokers will not admit is that our forces won the war in Iraq in about ten days. It's the freaking occupation that we're losing. The right is to blame for not committing the resources and tax hikes necessary to pay for a successful occupation. Even in occupations these guys are chicken hawk cowards as you call them Gene.

Gene,

Calling the Victory in Iraq Day as an attempt to salvage the legacy of Bush and Cheney is a bit cynical, but I can understand the frustration. I didn't go with this whole "V-I" thing either, since the war was certainly not over. But the whole chickenhawk meme seems to a bit overplayed now that there's a Democrat administration. Are Dems who support the war in Afghanistan but don't serve chickenhawks too?

Nix,

You bring up several good points. I do think the VI day baloney was an attempt to give Bush credit and set up a scenario, in which, the warmongering pimps and prostitutes could blame Obama for "losing" Iraq, if things got worse over there again (which I think they will).

As to your Chicken Hawk question that is an excellent point and I am crafting an detailed response, but the short answer would be if you support war and sending men to their possible deaths without every having served or after having received deferments then you are a Chicken Hawk.

Will we ever see victory in Afghanistan? I doubt it. I think we are in a war that we or anyone else just can not win.
Never again should we be so naive as to get involved with a winless war.Maybe we can buy our way to victory in Afghanistan, but I think that Obama is right and we should not be sending anymore troops to their slaughter.

Notice that a proclamation of 'Victory in Iraq' had to come from a neo-con-ish blog. That alone says it all. If we had truly 'won' any sort of victory, it would be plain for all to see, and readily accepted.

We see from your reply to Nix that your grasp of Chickenhawk status is impeccable. Now that our Chickenhawk Database v.2
http://www.nhgazette.com/chickenhawks/
(aka the Chickenhawk Hall of Shame)
is up and running, come on by and nominate a few — we know we didn't get them all.
