For a few weeks, The #OccupyTogether Revolution had the majority of Rightwing flummoxed. Most Conservatives had no idea how to attack the movement. But, now we have the Big Conservative Attack; Andrew Breitbart, Pajamasmedia, and every Major Righwing Blog are running with the OccupyRevolution are Nazis, Communists and Anti-Semites.

Pajamas Media recorded similar, and worse, statements at Occupy LA. The main Occupy demonstration in lower Manhattan has also seen numerous, well-documented examples of explicit antisemitism. That is alarming, given the explicit anti-Jewish hatred on display at Occupy rallies across the country.

Other conservative disinformation sites, The American Spectator for example, have also taken it upon themselves to smear and slander OWS and #Occupy. It's de rigueur for the Right to throw up as many bullshit stories and as many smear jobs as possible knowing, 'All of the people will be fooled some of the time' and 'Some of the people will be fooled all of the time.'

Just as when Republicans rammed through the Iraq War and the Patriot Act, the Rightwing has fallen solidly in line declaring those who oppose the 1% are Anti-American, Anti-Semites, Communists, Socialists, Nazis, Marxists, Terrorist Appeasers, Rawr!!! Anyone who is against the systematic and rampant Wall Street crime and corruption is actually against America. It's what the Right does every time.

But, despite the worst efforts of the Breitbart and his ilk, by an overwhelming majority, the American People know that Wall Street and their wholly owned Republican Party are responsible for the economic calamity. The Top 3 causes of the Republican Depression are:

Race in America

As a continuation of the Henry Louis Gates thread I'll expound on Race. I don't know Professor Gates, it's possible he's a racist (by which I mean he hates people because they are white or projects his general bad feelings about whites onto specific white people), it may even be probable.

To me the whole concept of Race is a bullshit construct. Historically, it was used as a way to divide poor blacks and poor whites. The poor white share cropper could always hold in his heart the "at least I'm white canard" and allow himself to be duped into believing he and the rich white man were the same despite his malnutrition, bowed back, calloused hands and short life expectancy.

But, our current ideas on Race have been built upon the edifice of the incorrect scientific thinking of the 19th century. This is not to damn the creators of the ideas of race but to point out that as Scientific thinking has evolved and explored new and unforeseen areas while also self-correcting yet there still exist charlatans and demagogues (Jesse Jackson and R. Limbaugh) as in the past who will ignore this and use the 19th century constructs to sunder humanity, usually for political or economic gain.

Humanity is not divided into the distinct Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid classifications, but those divisions still underpin the thinking of many people. Archeology, Genetic Mapping and DNA have shown that all Mankind (to use the outmoded term) can be traced back to the Mitochondrial Eve of roughly 180,000 years ago. And even if you hold to the idea that man emerged and continued evolving several times from Africa as opposed to the currently more accepted theory that the modern strain of man came, almost exclusively, from the last emigration, all humanity are the same species, with minor, mostly superficial, differences. The Human Journey began in Africa, original home to us all.

But it is the doom of man that he must accentuate the differences between himself and his brothers.

In addition to the flawed thinking and perhaps superseding it, we also have the societal constraints on who you are and can be. People have the awful habit of projecting their notions of who you are based on what they see and we are slow too change our minds.

You are (or are supposed to be) what they say you are. You are black, you are white, you are asian, you are hispanic, and so forth. And being so you are also the preconceived notions they feel apply to a person of that persuasion. This leads to the chastising terms like Whigger, Uncle Tom, Oreo when someone steps outside of the viewers' prejudice and does not behave in the way they expect and want you to behave. Don't step outside of the box I have mentally assigned you.

So, I am not the "white cop" who yelled at you, wrote you the speeding ticket and busted you for smoking pot at 16. You don't know my mind and I know you don't care what I think anyway.

I will note a very annoying thing Obama did when he was an Illinois Senator was mandate the completion of "Stop Sheets" by Police Officers. To be completed after all traffic stops for a continuing study on racial profiling by Northwestern. It's not the addition paperwork, but the 5 categories the Officer gets to choose from concerning the race of the driver. The categories are: African/American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Native American/Alaskan and Asian/Pacific Islander. There's no category for Arab or Middle Eastern or Indian. It forces Officers to think in the outmoded method!

Yet this document survived, in good condition and was conveniently discovered by Orly Tatiz? That's a reasonable belief?

So, Rod Blagojevich (D-IL) is quite the corrupt politician. The recent (legally obtained) wiretaps reveal him to be a profane, narcissistic, and spiteful man. The criminal complaint included the following quotes:

- "motherfucker [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him.”

Of course, those sites which determined Obama is the spawn of the tri-headed Beast of Satan, Hitler and Bin Laden want to connect Blago to Obama.

But... but... Blago is a Democrat therefore I am obliged to defend him, and make excuses and point out all the corrupt Republicans in high office including but not limited to: Senator Ted Stevens, Norm Coleman, Representaives Tom DeLay, Duke Cunningham, Dennis Hastert, Governors George Ryan, Matt Blunt and, of course, Bush and Cheney.

Except no. Politicians at high levels of Government are corrupted by the offices they seek. It's the nature of politics. The power, influence and money end up destroying even the rare high-minded and strongly grounded who seek office. And those who play loose and fast with rules and ethics (Bush) end up wallowing in a mire of slime from which the nation is struggling to recover.

We are All Secular Fascists Now!

I would never take anyway and adults religious beliefs. Of course, I think, the real reason many adults are religious is because when they were children they were indoctrinated and browbeaten into believing a certain fairy tale (dependent upon where and when they live on Earth).

But, an interesting thing has happened of late. Atheists are no longer quiet about their non-belief. The reaction has been predictable. Religious believers have had their way and freedom from questions concerning unsubstantiated and unverifiable claims for so long, many have lost the methodology of proving faith through contemplation and dialectic. To paraphrase Robert M. Pirsig in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, They don't understand from where the shot has come. They've never confronted a living Atheist. Only dead ones.

The latest recent flare up was the placing of a sign by the Freedom From Religion Foundation in the Washington State Capitol building, and recently in Springfield Illinois. The sign displayed the following message:

At this season of the Winter Solstice, may reason prevail.
There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell.
There is only our natural world.
Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.

This has caused a backlash, as the religious have organized protests against the sign. This is fantastic. The proper way for ideas to grow or die is through reason, discourse and the competeion of ideas in the free marketplace of ideas. Except to Newt Gingrich, Bill O'Reilly, Bill Donahue, Ken Ham and others who want such godless ideas stopped through government action.

Bill O'Reilly wants Governor Gregorie hounded for allowing the sign. And stated; “She is a weak and confused leader who allows a fanatical group parody in Christmas displays. I mean, how crazy is this?” Bill-O also declared Gregorie "insulted Christians all over the world".

According to Newt Gingrich the declaration of atheists ideas fits into his worldview that there is Secular Fascism in America today. As far as I know there have been no atheist murders of religious believers based on their hatred of said believers faith. Nor have there been church or temple bombings done by the godless. No Night of the Long Atheist Knives, no rounding up and internment of believers in camps, no confiscation of believers belongings to benefit the State.

But, for clarification Newt Gingrich believes the following: Free Speech=Fascism.

Bill Donohue declared on Fox & Friends the Washington State Capital sign is Hate Speech. (From Atheist Media Blog). I'm sure Bill Donohue would like to know that his characterization of criticism of religion is hate speech is exactly the same idea espoused by the government of Saudi Arabia, which is attempting to get the United Nations to ban all criticism of religion (mainly islam).

I just can't wait for the Righteous to disavow their attachment to that Secular Progressive ultimate Religious betrayer president George W. Bush who, when asked if the bible is literally true, declared: "You know. Probably not. ... No, I'm not a literalist..." (From Crooks and Liars).

Jon Lilyea over at This ain't Hell and others have accurately observed the victory of Obama is now an occasion for those who flew the flag upside down or refused to fly one at all the opportunity to be proud to be an American again.

The election of Obama is not going to be an occasion for me to go out and buy a (cheaply made Chinese) American flag. Because the flag still stands as an empty symbol.

I know what the flag was supposed to represent: honor, courage, unity... But, at best, it's a thread-bare ghostly representation of those things. It is not those things in and of itself. The flag is not the people. The flag did not raise itself upon Suribachi, men did it. Those who continually drape themselves in the flag do so in order to invoke nationalistic feelings and to convince the people, the Nation as a whole stands behind their personal gratification, whims and desires.

I didn't fly a flag during the Clinton Regime, I didn't fly one during the Bush Junta and I won't fly one during Obama's Rule.

Uh-huh. Bachmann has no idea what she is talking about. Watching her vapid stare, listening to the pauses, the set patterns of speech, the stilted way she responded to questions which differed from her set talking points it appeared Bachmann had been given the RNC text of; equate Liberal with anti-american at every opportunity. She's a tool or a fool.

Of course, claiming one's side has the Mandate from Heaven is not new in politics it's one of the oldest arguments for claiming power.

And the mobs which have been taken in and read the "works" of Coulter she who shall not be named, Michael Savage Weiner Liberalism is a Mental Disorder, Sean Hannity, these comments help whip them into a hate-filled frenzy. Socialist! Communist! Terrorist! Anti-American!

I'm sure if Bachmann was given her script and told to include the following words, she would find them and the men who penned them and stood in armed conflict against their government to be anti-american:

I'm sure she would declare this to be against the right of center values which in her mind alone real americans hold dear.

And a note on Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground. The Weathermen twice destroyed a hypocritical statue of a police officer which stood in Haymarket Square, taking this action alone how is it different than when the American Founding Fathers and Patriots destroyed a statue of King George III, which stood at the foot of Broadway on the Bowling Green in New York to make bullets?

I agree with Sean Hannity

The Inevitability of Control

Unable to hide anymore Old Tipse Canoe emerged and has asked Congress to provide 700,000,000,000 in bailout monies.

It's time we started counting in Astronomical numbers. We could use Astronomical Units (1AU=93,000,000) for the Bailout. Bush asks for 7500AU would no doubt cause little consternation amongst the people and Bush wouldn't need to induce confidence in the economy with such pabulum; "People are beginning to doubt our system, people were losing confidence and I understand it's important to have confidence in our financial system."

With this being an election cycle The Two Parties have both sent forth minions to convince the people the problems were caused by the other side of the Coin. The problems stem from the US system itself and when a Government becomes the monstrous behemoth, which the US system has devolved into, it eventually finds itself in the position of taking over all functions of life.

The US was originally set up as a thinly veiled attempt to re-create Feudalism with the the Lords (Congress) having significantly more power than the King (President). The original Articles of Confederation failed because of the lack of fast means of communication and travel and thus the difficulties which arise in controlling individual Feudal Republics (States).

Over the existence of the Federal Government, as with all such creations, individuals in positions of authority and power expanded and enlarged their spheres of influence and control. So immediately after the Federal Government was born in 1789, Alexander Hamilton in his position as Secretary of the Treasury, convinced enough of his fellow Lords to impose a new tax. And in order to collect the revenue the military sent forth with the added bonus of imprinting upon it's subjects the Power which must now be accorded a strong Federal Government.

Of course, like all nations in the Industrial Age, the Landed Nobility faced the problem of the new rising influence of the Noueve Riche, the Captains of Industry. These men in the 1800's did not consider themselves inferior and as the powerful Merchants and Bankers had done in Europe during the late Middle ages and Renaissance they began to exert and accord to themselves powers and privileges normally reserved for the Old Aristocracy.

Government and Industry have struggled for control of the Apparatus of Control. Fortunately in America, the Military has allowed itself to not slide into the easy stance of Kingmaker. This is the problem which beset and destroyed the Old Roman Republic and then the Western Roman Empire. The Military of the Byzantine Empire often determined the Basileus.

The Byzantine Empire history was well known to the Founding Fathers who sought to emulate it's greatness in many respects commerce and learning whilst curbing the negatives, interence warfare and religious strife. And with an eye to the future;

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Of course, not possessing the Asimov Discipline of PsychoHistory, the Founding Fathers could not totally foresee the rise of the peasantry. However, those who have inherited the mantle of Government have easily subsumed and controlled the rising lower classes by absorbing them into the false two party Dichotomy, through unions, use of religion and the hobgoblins of fake issues (gay marriage) designed to convince the great majority of the people in the US that the Two Parties (one coin) are all that stands between them and oblivion.

Vice President Cheney's use of Power and the Strong Unitary Executive Arm of Government is actually not unprecedented. In fact it's a fairly well established position in political philosophy. Cheney and Bush both hold to the idea of Sovereign as espoused by Hobbes. In Leviathan the powers ascribed to the Sovereign are unlimited and extend to all spheres and represent Total Power. In Hobbes' system unlike the later ideas of Locke and Rousseau, once the citizens have chosen their Sovereign the have no more political power. And the Sovereign can act in any way he desires including tyrannical behavior. I can think of no more clear example from Cheney to illustrate this than his "So?"

We the People are pawns for the controlling interests of the Nation. Members of Industry and Government have profited for centuries upon the backs of Americans, passing laws, creating rules of education, diverting the attention of the people with bread and circuses, undermining basic understanding and starting wars at home and abroad in order to ensure the power and wealth of this land will be in the hands of the few.

I Hate Your Lawn

I hate Lawns. The lawn was an invention of the those who could demonstrate their conspicuous wealth. They were a signal like pasty white skin that the owner of the property was wealthy enough to grow a useless crop on his lands and hire others to care for it.

Nowadays, every American house has a lawn. Tending a lawn does not induce a sense of calm and serenity. There is no Walden like tranquility to be gained from the large amount of labor required to maintain a healthy lawn. Lawns need excessive amounts of water, gas (or electricty) to power the noisy trimming machine used weekly, chemicals to keep it a bright sought after green and pesticides to fight the foul insects which invade lawns.

Some of the worst lawns in America are located in Arizona. Tremendous amounts of water are needed to bring big useless green zones to the desert. Much to their credit though, Pima County has a long history of water conservation efforts. In the article a quote from 90 years ago indicated Tucson residents recognized the waste of water on lawns in the desert: Water is Wasted in Irrigating Lawns.

If you don't have kids or dogs I'm not sure what great benefits the Hulk Lawn gives you. Do you really find it aesthiscally more pleasing than say a ground covering "lawn" of Pachysandra or other walkable non-grass ground covers?

The Apparatus of Government Controls You Utterly

The entire apparatus of government is a Rube Goldberg machine. It's huge, complex, cumbersome, slow, and designed for the simple task of controlling you. Of course perhaps that's an insult to Rube Goldberg. The goal is not just control but domination which you willingly accept or are not even conscious of... It's hard to cut the strings if you don't realize you're a marionette.

Now, it may be man requires a form of government for arbitration, defense and peace keeping but a there is no way a monstrosity 1000 miles away (from the Chicagoland area that is) can respond quickly or effectively to your needs or problems, just ask the residents of New Orleans, the aftermath of which showed the limitations and downright incompetence of even State Government.

But, even after spectacular failures such as Katrina and the Imperial decrees of little more the 500 Masters of DC to invade and overthrow foreign rulers (whom they no longer like) Americans still acquiesce and defend the Apparatus.

Even when the rulers, such as Phil Graham, safely ensconced in their insular world of Government=Lobbyist, tell the plebeians to Just rub some dirt on it and quit whining about gas or home foreclosures and the recession in your little minds, Americans acquiesce to their Masters.

And why? Because we the people are taught that to be against the Apparatus is evil and wrong in and of itself. We are taught to revere the Apparatus itself. We the People are taught throughout life to place ourselves in the box and ignore or destroy anyone who tries to get out of the box.

This begins early in life with an education system imported during the Golden Era of Prussian Militantism.

It continues when the Apparatus creates an unending string of little bans upon your life designed to turn everyone in the State into a criminal and to captialize upon the natural instincts possessed by every human other than sociopaths or psychopaths.

The State then ensures resistance to the enforcement bears a double edge. The Apparatus of Government outlaws resistance to force and when it chooses to exercise it's power it sends not the masters but pawns. Any rational human bears in mind if he resists he is not striking out against the Machine in some Matrix inspired fight for freedom, but fighting with an agent of the State who is most likely caught up in the same net and held under the sway of the Machine as well.

And the Apparatus continues by encouraging people to believe they can work within the system for slow and systematic change. Society can't handle rapid changes is usually the bromide dispensed to those working for change. By the time any real change has been adopted those who worked for it are long dead and buried. Working gradually within the system is, as Tolstoy reasoned, a self-delusion which benefits the Apparatus.

It is ineffectual and irrational because Government... knows very well what is really dangerous to it. and will never let people who submit to it and act under its guidance do anything that will undermine its authority. And therefore, as both reason and experience clearly show, such an illusory, gradual conquest of rights is a self-deception which suits the government admirably, and which it, therefore, is even ready to encourage.

Christopher Hitchens on Water Torture

But, let's not kid ourselves. The proponents of the Stop Snitchin' Movement are not Peaceful, Freedom Loving Anarcho-Libertarians seeking the end of the coercive abuse of power by Agents of the Nation-State. No they are criminals, (Thieves, Dug Dealers, Murderers) who manipulate their victims into believing both their interests are aligned or outright threaten people into silence.
