Office Depot Capitalists demand Illinois Taxpayers pay them or else

Corporate Tax Subsides should be relabeled The Pleasure of Working For Us Tax. Office Depot and OfficeMax merged earlier this year and since that business announcement have been playing Illinois and Florida off against each other in the never ending Race-to-the-Bottom.

This has been a standard tactic of Corporations. They learned long ago workers are interchangeable and that by going to legislatures they could get State Governments to provide them with legally constructed tax havens and public assistance.

On December 10th, Office Depot announced their newly merged company will put its headquarters in Boca Raton, not at the existing OfficeMax offices in Naperville, Illinois. This despite a promise by the Illinois Government to pay them $53 million in welfare over 15 years.

And all Office Depot would have had to do would be to promise to keep 2000 clerical jobs in Illinois for that welfare. The vast majority of products sold in these stores are not made in Illinois or Florida, but China. Some paper products are produced by the Illinois company North American Paper.

So, while the Office Depot Corporate Welfare deal fell through, Sears Inc and CME Group still received millions of Illinois Tax Payer Dollars in the last 2 years and are promised hundreds of millions more over the next decade and a half.

Meanwhile, 80,000 Illinois residents are set to lose Federal Unemployment benefits in January, while 109,000 Illinois residents collecting State benefits would be unaffected at first.

"While today’s job growth allows most newly unemployed individuals to find work after a several weeks, the long-term unemployed face additional hurdles," Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) Director Jay Rowell said in a prepared statement." Ending this modest program based on a calendar date rather than economic principles and job skills could slow economic growth."

That's because benefits paid to Illinois residents are often immediately are pumped back into the economy in terms of purchases or rent, while money given to Corporations is funneled away from the state. After Sears received their Illinois Welfare in December 2011 they closed 2 Sears and 3 K-Mart stores in the State, 3 months later. They got their money from the State and left.

"I'm a Wealth of Nations guy," Republican Congressman So and So stated on MSNBC during the Republican Government Shutdown.

I seriously doubt that Republican So and So has actually read The Wealth of Nations. It's one of those books people place on their mantle to look smart and a phrase that right-wingers trot out as way of an argument instead of actually defending their positions. 

It's allows the Republican or Right-Winger to merely say the words, 'Bible. Wealth of Nations. Freedom. Flag. Founding Fathers. Ronald Reagan.' They don't actually say anything when confronted on the actual failings of their sick and twisted ideology.

Similarly, when Republicans want to attack they say, 'Liberalism. Marxism. Entitlements. Mainstream Media.' and so forth.

It's not an actual argument to make vague allusions to phrases or concepts but it is a good stimulus-response mechanism. It's all designed to invoke emotional r-brain responses in their duped and unthinking conservatives dronez.

What we are seeing in Illinois with Sears, CME Group and Office Depot and with thousands of Corporations across the Nation is Capitalism in action. Capitalism is the Privatizing of Profits and the Subsidizing of Losses.

No Austerity. No Compromise with the Vultures. No bargaining with the Plutocracy. Barack Obama has the Mandate. It's time The Rich pay their Fair Share.

Now, that Real America has rejected the preposterous slanders and smears of the rabid conservatives comes the serious task of reorganizing the Nation.

Overusing the bromide of being doomed to repeat history it seems We do have a difficult time learning from that which has passed before.

The Empire of Byzantium struggled with many of the same issues We, the People face today. Religion. Nobility. Taxes. Military interventions. Dynastic struggles. Culture Changes. Legal Codes.

As the centuries passed, new generations inherited problems and structures created by previous ones. They did their best to build upon the past work, reconcile new ideas with the old or create entirely new ones, but often their efforts became a jumble, a convoluted and a confusing mixture. Hence the term byzantine.

This was well understood by the Founding Fathers who sought to blend their new ideas with the ideas of the Ancient Greeks, Renaissance Italians, and the Thinkers of the Enlightenment in the creation of the New Nation.

One of the great myths of America is that we don't have Class Struggle and Class Warfare. Class division was written about and feared by James Madison, Father of the Constitution,

"The most common and durable source of faction has been the various and unequal distribution of property..."

During the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Class Warfare was a major preoccupation of Madison and the other Founders. Some of the Founders, notably Alexander Hamilton, greatly feared that Class War was already upon them (he was thinking of Shay's Rebellion) and the common man would establish a Democratic Tyranny voting themselves the property of the Rich, but it didn't happen then and it isn't happening now.

James Madison believed his "extended republic" model aided by supplemental checks built into the Constitution would stave off Class Warfare, but that within 2 or 3 generations the struggles of rich and poor would result in conflict.

In 1829-1830 Madison became convinced the country was headed for Class warfare by 1930. He reasoned the massive populace crowded together would,

"necessarily be reduced by competition for employment to wages which afford them the bare necessaries of life. The proportion being without property can not be expected to sympathize sufficiently with its [property] right to be safe depositories of power over them." 

So, either the demos would rise up in revolt "by a law of nature". Or the Rich would degenerate into Oligarchy and destroy the Republic because,

"A republic cannot stand upon bayonets. We are free today substantially but the day will come when our Republic will be an impossibility. It will be impossibility because wealth will be concentrated in the hands of a few."

But, this is not the Great Man of History longing. A Great President lets other people rise and the greatest Americans often come from the Middle Class.

James Madison knew this. He and the other Founders also warned of Foreign Entanglements, Standing Armies, and Unchecked Corporate Power.

Do Conservatives not re-read their own mythology? The Myth of Ronald Reagan wasn't that he got the Soviets to pass a universal healthcare coverage for their citizens. It was that Reagan goaded the Red Menace into an Arms Race which bankrupted them. What did Bin Laden accomplish with the 9/11 attacks? He got us to waste $10 Trillion in overseas folly of Empire-building in the Middle East. And not to mention the thousands of american families shattered by the physical and mental scars of war.

What happened, since the End of World War II, was the establishment of the Permanent War Status by the United States have drained the lifeblood and treasury of the Country.

Who has benefited from the Overseas American Empire and the Massive DoD Budget? Undying Corporations and an increasingly isolated Cadre of Elites who see no Country and no reason to spend to aid the poor, or support the infrastructure of this Nation.

President Harry Truman famously stated,

"Poor Ike! He'll sit there and say 'Do this! Do that!' And nothing will happen. It's not like the army. He'll find it very frustrating."

President Eisenhower presided over 8 years of American Prosperity. Ike had an America that was untouched by World War 2 and thus had it's infrastructure intact with which to dominate the world market. But, President Eisenhower had a tax rate of 52% on Corporations and a Top Tax rate of 91%!

"[W]e cannot afford to reduce taxes, reduce income, until we have in sight a program of expenditures that shows that the factors of income and of outgo will be balanced. Now that is just to my mind sheer necessity.” 02/17/1953

However, Ike had the benefit of a populace which was not going through a radical upheaval. Ike had a populace which was for all intents homogeneous religiously. He also had a Class of Wealthy Americans which still believed in the idea of Noblese Oblige. 

And what did Eisenhower warn of at the end of his Presidency? The Military-Industrial-Complex. 

Unlike in Ike's day it's not the same, today. The Rich see no reason to aid the poor or even to invest in the United States.

Mitt Romney's former energy policy advisor Harold Hamm, CEO of Continental Resources. gave a speech on 09/13/12 to Congress demanding National Parks be opened to Oil Exploitation and that his Federal Corporate Welfare which he's received since 1967 continue. Hamm also pouted that, "Continental’s effective tax rate is 38%!" Except it isn't. Over the past 5 years Hamm's Corporation Contenintal Inc paid 2.2% in Income Taxes when adjusted for all the tax breaks, corporate kickbacks and federal assistance he's received.

On the books his Oil Company probably has a stated tax rate of 38%. But, Hamm paid next to nothing when all the byzantine tax laws are applied. The Tax Code has been made circuitous specifically because it aids the Plutocracy.

A business owner in Las Vegas on Wednesday November 7th, told a CBS radio station that he had fired 22 of his 114 "mostly Hispanic" employees because President Barack Obama had won re-election. David noted that he had "mostly Hispanic" employees and some had come to work wearing Obama shirts on election day.

The Republican Party's favorite Michele Bachmann believes in a platform of No Taxes on Corporations. That would be Zero. 

Corporate Profits have gone up quarter after quarter since the beginning of 2009. Verizon, for instance, reported a pre-tax income of $24.2 Billion in 2009-2010 and received, through U.S. federal income tax loopholes, a $1.3 Billion dollar refund.

The Richest 1% of this Nation control 50% of all financial investments. The top 10% have almost 90% of stocks, bonds, trust funds, and business equity, and over 75% of non-home real estate. Less than 10% of the country own the United States of America. 

But it's important to note that for the Rich, most of that income does not come from "working": in 2008, only 19% of the income reported by the 13,480 individuals or families making over $10 million came from wages and salaries.

What the Plutocracy wants is a closure of the Middle Class because the Middle Class is too unpredictable. It's much better to have a pliant working class who are satisfied with crumbs from the government and whatever wages/benefits the Moneyed Overlords are willing to bequeath upon them.

The Middle Class too often flexes it's political power and votes themselves things like Supplemental Social Security Income and Medicaid for the poor. The Middle Class votes against Child labor and for safer working conditions and regulations on the dumping of coal slag or mercury waste from Oil refineries into rivers and lakes. The Middle Class fights and strikes for pensions and dental care for their family.

Much easier for the Rich to move to a Third World Hellhole and have a Totalitarian Government enforce Wage Slavery and Corporate Bondage.

Today, the reason "47%" do not pay Federal Income Taxes are because of the slap-dash additions and shaky edifices built into the Tax Code. The EITC, marriage deduction, child deductions, home ownership deductions were Republican backed ideas to encourage people to adopt mores, behaviors and family structures which Republicans favored. The biggest Moochers are the Ultra-Rich.

The last time we had a restructuring of the Tax Codes, with the Bush Tax Cuts, Conservative shills for the 1% shamelessly lied about it's goals. The Heritage Foundation's 2001 report proclaimed if the Bush tax cut legislation were to pass, it would:

1) Effectively pay off the federal debt; 

2) Reduce the federal surplus by $1.4 trillion; 

3) Substantially increase family income; 

4) Save the entire Social Security surplus; 

5) Increase personal savings; 

6) Create more job opportunities.

None of this happened and we've been stuck in the Republican Recession ever since. But, what this did accomplish was a massive transfer of the Nation's Wealth into the hands of the Ultra-Rich.

What the Rich desire is the semblance of Democracy with the reality of Plutocracy. They privatize the profits and socialize the losses.

Most of the problems, President Obama is dealing with, he inherited. Some he's allowed to happen; for instance, the ratio of public-sector employees to the overall population is the lowest it’s been since 1968.

What Barack should do is tear down the rotten Tax Structure and Economy of Income Inequality built by right-wing lies:

1) Let the Bush Tax Cuts expire, completely.

2) Void the Sequestration.

3) Eliminate the Cap on Social Security taxes.

4) Raise the Tax Rate on Capital Gains and tax it as normal income.

5) Eliminate the deferred compensation rule.

6) Eliminate any and all Tax breaks and federal subsidies with Corporations which out-source jobs and off-shore manufacturing factories.

7) Bring back a Financial Transaction Tax to curb Wall Street volatility and curb rampant Hedge Fund speculation gambling.

8) Propose a Tax cut package for the first $250,000 of income (98% of America).

9) Create and augment spending and hiring for public-sector employees.

10) The follow-on Budget should include a 50% reduction in DoD spending. 

Then watch Republicans tear themselves apart as they reveal their entire Party is devoted to guarding the obscene theft and reverse-robin-hood robbery of Middle Class wealth by the Rich. House Speaker Bohener immediately genuflected to the Rich after President Obama's resounding win. Congressman Peter King of New York has declared he and the Republican House members have a "Mandate" to protect the Tax Breaks for the Rich.

There is a window here for Barack Obama to cement himself as True Class Warrior fighting for the 300 Million Americans who desire the American Dream but are being shackled with the chains of Wage Slavery and Corporate Bondage to the Moocher Class of the Plutocracy. It is our Job as a Center Left People to pick him up and stand beside him and guide him to that Destiny.

Paul Ryan, Joe Walsh and the Republicans love the Military but Hate the Troops

"As you know, you go to war with the Army you have. They're not the Army you might want or wish to have at a later time." - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Dec 8, 2004.

To be more clear the Republican Party loves the Military-Industrial-Complex (MIC). Republicans do not see individual soliders, they don't exist in the Right-Wing mind. What the Republican Party believes in is the "Military".

As such, when the shameless, gutless Congressman Paul Ryan said, “We don’t think the generals are giving us their true advice. We don’t think the generals believe that their budget is really the right budget.”

Note the use of We. Ryan is not speaking just for himself, he's speaking for the Party. The Party which views the individual solider as a prop, as an asset, as a piece on a strategic map of resources.

Paul Ryan felt he had a free hand to call "the Generals" liars because he is the perfumed dandy attack poodle of the Plutocracy. Ryan's status as the Architect of the Path to the Penury will never cost him the support of the 1%, what he is defending is the Massive Transfer of Wealth from the American People (and the Iraqis or the enemy du jour) to the MIC.

Congressman Joe Walsh is running against Tammy Duckworth. Walsh is a pure opportunist. He's a man, "the guy who sleeps in his office", without a useful trait or accomplishment to his name, but, Walsh felt safe belittling and slandering Tammy Duckworth. When asked about Duckworth, he off-handedly dismissed her incredibly grievous injures as "Ehhh... Let's move on..."

This wasn't the first time Tea Party Republican Joe Walsh felt comfortable bashing Veterans. Walsh called Veterans who participated with #Occupy and OWS "anti-American". And why? Because he's a Republican it's understood that in the Budgetary circles he will vote the Right way for more money to the MIC.

Conservative Champions of the MIC loved Pat Tillman, until it was learned he was anti-war and wanted to meet Noam Chomsky. Then right-winger chicken hawks Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter ignored or off-handedly smeared Pat Tillman and duped conservative war-mongers could attack anyone who dissuade them of the easy stereotype of the Warrior Pat Tillman.

A simple breakdown of every leading Republican and conservative shows they don't serve in the military [See my post, CPAC=Chicken Hawks United] but, they all sure wave the flag proudly and talk tough and loud about attacking Iran from the safety of their posh air-conditioned offices.

The Republican Party's shameful disregard towards returning Veterans isn't just confined to slandering individual Veterans like Duckworth or Tillman, but extends all the way up to their cutting off of funds and shameful mistreatment of wounded at Walter Reed and and the epidemic of homelessness and joblessness [See my post: Republicans Piss on Veterans where Senate Republicans couldn't find any money in the Budget to aid homeless Vets] the Republican seem content to ignore in the ever increasing escalation war against the President.

The Walter Reed Scandal was known as early as 2004 but it took until 2007, when the Democrats regained control of the House and Senate for anything to be done to alleviate the suffering of those whom the Republican Party and Conservatives view only abstractly through the lens of Right-Wing jingoism.

This is the heart of the Republican Party, it only supports military members who pledge blind allegiance to Right-Wing Dogma. Anyone who dares express a different viewpoint of the Trillion Dollar Plus Yearly Budget allocated towards the DoD is ostracized and cast out as Anti-American so that the Military Contractors can continue to inflate their budgets and steal hundreds of Millions of Dollars from the American people, while the Neo-Cons and Right-Wingers send the poor off to die in far away lands for the enrichment of the 1%.

Mitt Romney's Pension and Tax Returns.

“[A]s soon as President Obama releases his grades and birth certificate and sort of a long list of things then maybe he’d do it,” Romney Son #3 demands to see President Obama's Birth Certificate.

Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made Hundreds of Millions of Dollars by dismantling American Companies and firing American Workers. Mitt is now 13 years removed from "working" at Bain Capital but still receives Millions in benefits from the firm.

Romney will not release his tax returns because it will show Romney's been receiving Millions of Dollars every year from Bain Capital as "deferred income and" paying around a 15% tax rate.

It's clear why Romney hoped for the bankruptcy and dissolution of General Motors. Romney hoped Bain Capital would be able to Vulture off some GM assets and increase his Pension. If there is one thing Romney has not flip-flopped on in his life it's that he consistenely chooses Profits Over People.

Romney is a member of the pampered, never done a day's worth of actual labor, Vulture Class which profits off of destroying America and picking at the remnants. And without a doubt he is going to be the Republican Nominee for President of the United States or more accurately Romney is the One Percent Candidate for President. (Re: W Spann LLC created expressly by a Bain Capital chum of Romney's to donate $1,000,000 to his Candidacy.

The 1% is now comprised of Sociopaths. They can not recognize the emotional states of other people, do not Nor do they care.

But, what they can do is rally their resources for when One Rich Man is Attacked the 1% treat it as an Attack on their Whole Plutocracy. As Billionaire Hedge Fund parasite Stephen Schwarzman told the Nation, “It's a War! It’s like when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939.” When the idea that Capital Gains should be taxed as normal income instead of at the 15% rate.

Members of the 1% recently created a Political Action Committee (PAC) titled the Job Creators Alliance. But, like all the evil things the 1% does, the Job Creatos Alliance is a deliberate misnomer. It isn't a PAC with the goal of how to to Create Jobs but on how to continue and increase the obscene and murderous transfer of wealth up to the coffers of a small cadre of Psychopaths.

The 1% aren't making anything, let alone "Creating Jobs". They profit by crooked bookkeeping, legerdemain, mathematical number games, shifting billions of electronic digits from one account into another and then proclaim themselves hard-working capitalists. They are gamblers, thieves, poltroons and Vultures.

But, Mitt's still playing the I'm a regular guy like all of Us. When he shows up in his blue jeans and a fancy dress shirt, sleeves artfully rolled up, tie conspicuously absent.

But, what "Unemployed" Regular Guy Mitt will never tell you is that he is a Plutocratic Vulture scrapping his profit from the carcasses of dead Americans whom he helped kill and the Opportunities to which Romney refers to,

In less than a year, the American people will go to the polls and choose a new president. A matter of great moment is at stake in this election. The question we will decide is this: Will the United States be an Entitlement Society or an Opportunity Society?

Are the Opportunities for the 1% to continue raping the Country, Oppressing Millions and Killing those who interfer in their Pursuit of Profit.

Capitalism at it's Finest! $7.77 TRILLION for the Banking Criminals

Yeah, you suckers thought the $700 Billion TARP was bad. Turns out the Federal Reserve decided to funnel 11 times that amount to the Wall Street Criminals!

It dwarfed the Treasury Department’s better-known $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP. Add up guarantees and lending limits, and the Fed had committed $7.77 trillion as of March 2009 to rescuing the financial system, more than half the value of everything produced in the U.S. that year.

Plus, over the last few years, the Fed and the Big Banks have been fighting to keep it hidden from the Public. In fact 3 years ago today Decemeber 5th 2008, the Federal Reserve allocated $1.2 Trillion to the Too-Big-To-Fail Banks.

Bankers didn’t disclose the extent of their borrowing.

$7.77 Trillion USC. This ridiculous sham is the Free Market? They call this massive amounts of Taxpayer Welfare Capitalism? The Banks then had the temerity to foreclose on injured veterans? The Bankers continued to claim that poor borrowers were the problem? And as the best and brightest these 'Job Creators' deserved the millions they've gotten as bonuses? Of course, the shameless Banks and their Criminal CEOs turned around and fought any and every effort to place any regulations upon them. American Capitalism is Feudalism.

A fresh narrative of the financial crisis of 2007 to 2009 emerges from 29,000 pages of Fed documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act and central bank records of more than 21,000 transactions. While Fed officials say that almost all of the loans were repaid and there have been no losses, details suggest taxpayers paid a price beyond dollars as the secret funding helped preserve a broken status quo and enabled the biggest banks to grow even bigger.

The US Government has been transformed into the private slush fund of the Plutocracy. The 1% are not bought off anymore with the mere raiding of foreign lands, they want it all. And thanks to the tireless efforts of the Republicon Party and Corporate-Friendly Democrats they are going to steal the entire wealth of the United States.

Republicans and Wall Street sabotage America

The Republican Party has been wholly bought and paid for by Corporate Money. There is one job the Republicans have to accomplish as they steal back into DC, which is the continued transfer of wealth in this nation to the Richest. Already under George Bush's evil regime we saw a the Rich get Richer but, we've also seen Republicans use the power of Government to transfer Trillions into the coffers of the Rich.

But it's never enough for the Plutocrats. What they want is Plutonomy, a new era of Feudalism, in which Wall Street bankers are the new Lords and Barons with Republican bureaucrats acting as the new clergy telling the rest of America this is the way it's supposed to be. As Republican Jeb Henserling told America,

"I don’t think we can figure out how to outlaw recessions any more than we can outlaw tornadoes or outlaw hurricanes. Economic growth has never gone in one straight line up. It’s a part of freedom."

You see? Your economic woes are due to freedom. The vicissitudes of Freedom ordain that you be poor. Amen...

Remember Tea Partiers had no problems with the $700 Billion USC TARP bailout or with the other undisclosed billions used to rescue AIG, Bear Sterns and the other Wall Street racketeers accomplished by the Fed and financed with Taxpayer money. Sarah Palin supported the TARP in her standard mangled diction,

"Now, as for the economic bailout provisions and the measures that have already been taken, it is a time of crisis and government did have to step in playing an appropriate role to shore up the housing market to make sure that we're thawing out some of the potentially frozen credit lines and credit markets, government did have to step in there."

You betcha we must help the Banks which caused the Crisis because Capital belongs to the Capitalists and poverty belongs to the poor.

And as soon as those Trillions were in the hands of Wall Street, President Bush used his executive authority to allow the money to be used in whatever way the Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and the Rich bastards they serve deem... Henry Paulson backed away from the government's plan to use $700 billion in bailout funds to buy troubled mortgage assets and instead called for a fresh injection of cash to financial institutions. "Our assessment at this time is that this is not the most effective way to use TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program ) funds," Paulson said. "I will never apologize," Feudal Lord of the Exchequer Henry Paulson declared to the obedient serfs, "for changing an approach or strategy when the facts change. I think the apologies should come the other way." When you question him, you should apologize.

Remember the Tea Party anger at the hundreds of Billions requested yearly off budget by Bush as emergency war spending? Or when Billions in hard currency was physically lost in Iraq?

The last 10 years of the Bush Tax cuts were supposed to foster growth and jobs. Where are they? The Rich did what they always do with extra funds they "invested" those monies in their own off-shore bank accounts. Swiss banking giant UBS helped 52,000 unidentified American Thieves hide untold Billions stolen from American taxpayers into secret accounts. UBS agreed to pay $780 million USC to keep their identities secret. Under President Bush we had years of wage stagnation and wealth accumulation amongst the richest Americans just the way the Koch Brothers want.

Republicans want to crush the Middle Class and Poor and grind down Americans into serfdom and wage slavery forever.

"And I'm going to tell you one other thing: When did we ever get to a point in America where, we're nearly at the point where fifty percent of Americans don't pay anything in taxes! Nothing!" ~ Sean Hannity.

Of course, Hannity isn't the only Commentator at Faux News to demand the Poor pay more in Taxes. To the Rich in America the poor and middle class need to shoulder the burden of paying for Government and Government's role is to protect the profits of Wall Street.

President Obama is not the progressive superman many hoped he would be, but what he has done is offer hope with the Healthcare Insurance reform, the General Motors Bailout which saved thousands of UAW jobs, and ending the War profiteers boon in Iraq, so the Banking and Plutocratic Robber Barons have decided Obama must go. They engage in scurrilous lies about him to convince an ignorant vocal minority into believing Obama is somehow foreign.

The Republican Game Plan for the 2010 elections is to simply run away and hide from all interviews and dodge reporters.
