Josh Dawsey of the Washington Post got an interview with Trump and it was filled with all his typical lies and foibles.  Oh True the Vote in Georgia is uncovering things, you can't believe just wait!  Oh my crowd on January 6th was tremendous, biggest ever!  Oh I would have rushed in and saved the day but, man the Secret Service held me back.  Oh Nancy, she's responsible for the violence.

Trump is the perfect cipher for the modern conservative; he's weak they pretend he's strong, he's cowardly they pretend he's brave, he's stupid they pretend he's smart, he's a thief they pretend he's a savvy businessman, he's venal they pretend he's above corruption.  Trump is devoid of spirit, of knowledge, of generosity, of kindness, of charity, of every fucking value conservatives claim to cherish and they love him.

All for this fucking guy!  There is no descriptor or adjective which encompasses or correctly identifies Trump.  Except one, Fascist. 

I don't even know why I'm typing this.  Nothing is going to break this rightwing fever.  Even if Trump runs and loses again in 2024, MAGA has elevated him to Mythological Hero status and heap all manner of feats and legends upon him.  

And, of course Mitch McConnell and others knew what Trump was.  Of course, they saw what his rhetoric could bring about.  But, they don't care.  Like all indolent bureaucrats they calculated they could control a Fascist and ride his demagoguery to victories; with taxes, with the SCOTUS, and bring about the Neo-Confederate White Evangelical Nation-State they desire.  And for fucks sake... they might be right.

I read Merrick Garland is down with Covid.  I am still hoping Garland's DOJ is building the case to bring against Trump, his confidants, and cabal.  I recognize Garland saw the way Faux News, the rightwing internet, Bill Barr, and Traitor Trump himself, used whatever means, bad faith, and lies to undermine the Mueller Report.  And I know the new revelations about Ginni Thomas' deep involvement in the attempt to Overthrow the United States government have created more work on top of the 700+ prosecutions the Department of Justice has on-going with small fry's and the dopey leaders of the Proud Boys and Oathbreakers.  So, I hope Garland is building as air-tight a case as he can; but, with the understanding The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good.  But if Traitor Trump, his Republican criminals in Congress (Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, Gosar, Massie, and so many others) are allowed to get away without prosecution then we're completely screwed.

2016 was the most important election in my lifetime and we lost.  The damage is still unfolding.  These 4 years under President Biden are a chance to undo some damage, and if Joe hadn't done anything other than hold the line and delay the Fascist Ascension, his Presidency would have been a success.  President Biden has already done much more as Justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson's appointment today proves.

Update: Whoa! President Joe Biden usurped my post here by laying out the facts of Trump's Attempt to Overthrow the United States Government.  All the while never mentioning the Republican Traitor's name.

A year has passed since Conservatives, inspired by Donald John Trump, planned by members of the Trump cabal, aided by Republicans in Congress and funded, supported, and transported by Rightwing luminaries attempted to overthrow the United States government.

Now, rightwing propagandists and Republican conspirators have attempted to deny their role, obscure the truth about the criminals who attacked the Nation, and propose a revisionist history of the incident.  But, I will never forget, Never Forget, those white puffy faced rioters strolling nonchalantly out of the Capitol building; arms raised in Triumph, ecstatic, openly mugging for the camera.  And Trump giddy at the spectacle.

But, fortunately many arrests have been made and sentences relating to the Coup d'etat have been handed out, the evidence presented having proven over and over again Trump, his MAGA Mob, and numerous members of the Republican Party attempted to destroy the democracy of the United States through violence.

But, many Americans remain angry and afraid the architects and prime movers of the Insurrection remain at large and seem free to obfuscate, lie, and plot again.

Attorney General Merrick Garland has caught flak for not speeding the pace of the arrests.  But, AG Garland is not pursuing some petty thief or drunk driver he's building the largest case of Malfeasance and Conspiracy against the United States Government since the Iran-Contra Affair and pursuing the worst Traitor to the United States since the Confederacy; Donald John Trump. 

This effort and investigation has got to be flawless, immaculately researched, detailed and double checked and then checked again because conservatives have been gearing up, theorizing and fantasizing about overthrowing the United States government for years.

For instance, back in February 2014, Stan Solomon spoke with the venerable rightwing icon Phyllis Schlafy over marching on Washington D.C. to depose President Obama and remove him and others by force and violence;

“If we would have not 100,000 but 100 million march on Washington and say, ‘No way,’ I don’t think our military and the few pitiful police they have there wouldn’t be able to stop us,” Stan Solomon said, “I don’t think our military would fire on the American people. And we need to clean that cesspool of Democrats and Republicans, of illegals certainly, and say it’s time to save America for America, basically.” “Yes, I agree, America for Americans,” Schlafly responded.

One year later Traitor Trump would adopt this America for Americans propaganda under the banner of Make America Great Again.  The corpse of Phyllis Schlafy would spend her final hours on earth embracing Trump and transferring over the legitimacy of her 40+ years as a rightwing icon. 

Of course, the grossest thing about all of this is all this destruction aimed at the United States by internal enemies is it is all for Donald Trump.  Comically, like all Fascists, DJ Trump has ZERO accomplishments and is all talk and self-congratulations.  Now, the tragedy is that talk is catalyst of the rendering asunder of the Democratic Republic.  Perhaps... such a fission was always in the offing.  I certainly think so with the undemocratic and authoritarian maneuvers conservatives have engaged in since they lost Richard Nixon in 1974 and the subversion has only accelerated since the Republicans stole the 2000 election.

But, all this for Trump?  His venal crimes and stupidity date back decades when the Nixon-era Department of Justice cited his father and him for racial discrimination.

A few of the more dramatic lowlights: 

• Trump and his Criminal Family were found liable for defrauding a Veteran's Charity and ordered to payback $2,000,000 while also being Court-ordered to attend classes, and are barred from running a charity in New York State.
• Trump was also found liable for his scam University and was had a $25,000,000 fraud settlement upheld against him.

But, no matter what crimes are uncovered about Trump, his Horde of Cultists don't care because they got what they wanted Maladministration; emotional affirmation and the dopamine fix of feeling their enemies were made to suffer.  The feeling of belonging, of being part of the in-group, of Power.  Conservatives jettisoned their so-called beliefs, morals, principles for Fascism.

Because conservatives (as natural authoritarians) yearned for a Fascist Savior for a long, long time.  Thus, having been conditioned by years of rabid social media falsehoods, decades of agitprop email chain letters, 25 years of Faux News lies, 40 years of toxic Talk Radio, 60 years of John Bircher propaganda, and 150 years of Revisionist Civil War History the culmination was the elevation of a senile, overweight, mobbed up, grifter, conman, rapist, racist, traitor Donald Fvcking Trump to President.

But all that is the past, in the present we have to deal with the Republican Party as it stands; a Fully Fascist, anti-democratic authoritarian organization hoping to "win" enough of Congress this year to outlaw free and fair elections and ensconce themselves into Permanent Control of the United States.

So, the task facing Merrick Garland is to assemble as air-tight a case as possible.  But, understand bad actors on Fox, disingenuous right-wingers on social media are ready, willing and more than able to pounce on any error and will create as much disjunction, confusion, and throw everything they can to undermine justice as possible.
