Senator Mike Lee fancies himself a medieval Polish Nobleman

Pudgy Utah Republicon Mike Lee has been successful in using a procedural hold in the US Senate to keep $250 million in Federal Relief from the lead-poisoned residents of Flint, Michigan.

This is not surprising coming from Mike Lee, one of the scummiest sychophants in the Senate today. Lee ran for Senate on a platform of repealing Child Labor Laws, so he has no problem with children being harmed and sees protecting children as Unconstitutional, a function outside the scope of the United States Government. This, of course, also serves the right-wing mantra that government doesn't work.

Since, he's been in office Lee's "highlights" include; proudly marching on the White House with Sarah Palin, Senator Rafael 'Ted' Cruz, Larry Klayman, and a 100 conservative domestic terrorists under the banner of the confederate flag, the symbol of the worst arch-traitors in American History, to demand the arrest and lynching of President Obama.

He's also used the arcane procedural rules of the Senate to deliberately sabotage the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Lee demanded a constitutional amendment making it possible to raise taxes only when approved by 2/3rds of both the House and Senate and threatened if it wasn't approved "in his framework" he'd shut down the Government. When 'Ted' Cruz did shut down the government in 2013, Lee continued to enjoy all the financial perks of his office, "I’m working," Republican Senator Mike Lee. "I’ll continue to be paid*."

When he began his hold Lee stated, "If we create a precedent that suggests any time there’s a significant problem with a locally operated utility that operates entirely intrastate. I would ask, where’s the stopping point? What’s the limit?" - this is basically the same argument Lee touted after Hurricane Sandy and Republicons were screeching during Hurrucane Katrina, i.e. 'FYIGM*!'

Of course, Lee sang a different tune when it came to Federal Disaster Relief for Utah in 2011. In that case it was 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!'

It's no mystery why Lee is withholding the funds from the residents of Flint, Michigan; they are poor, mainly black, and they've been screwed by a Republican Governor. This is the essence of Republicon governance. Steal money, kill the poor, and use every piece of "legal" recourse to ensure those people stay screwed.

But, in using byzantine Senate procedure to withhold the money in the Energy Mordenization Bill, Lee is repeating history as farce. I wrote previously about the Polish Sejm and liberum veto,

The Polish-Lithuanian Kingdom was "partitioned" out of existence by Prussia, Austria, and Russia during the 18th century by subverting the Polish Parliament.

Polish Magnates (Representatives) were bought off by the foreign nations to obstruct and Filibuster any and all reforms in the Parliament. Then having stymied and brought the Nation to a standstill they simply moved in and did as they pleased.

Filibuster Reform in the US Senate has apparently being undermined. The current Unconstitutional rules adopted by the Senate allow for secret holds, opposition and obstruction by singular Senators who cry 'I Oppose!'

The Republican Senators abusing this Unconstitutional rule are doing so for the Plutocracy and Powerful Interest Groups who own them.

The Agreement reached this Thursday morning would permit a Senate majority to bypass the filibuster on a motion to proceed to debate with the condition that either a group of senators on each side of the aisle agrees, or the minority is guaranteed the chance to offer amendments.

The new rules limit debate time for sub-cabinet and district court nominations and reduces the number of required hours between cloture and final confirmation from 30 to two. It also lowers the number of cloture motions required to go to conference with the House.

“This does very little to change how the Senate as a body functions,” said a pro-reform Democratic aide. “After these small changes the Senate will operate much the same way as it did yesterday.”

Like the Polish people of the 18th century We, the People are being held hostage to the whims of Rapacious Moneyed Predators. And the Plutocracy's Senators will stand up and oppose any efforts which hamper the efforts of the Rich to sink their talons deep into Us and drain the American populace of their Money and Lives.

Of course, the Partitioning of Poland did have a positive impact on American History as numerous Polish Officers came to the US and provided The Continental Congress and George Washington with an experienced Officer Core. A Totally-Not-Racist Republican Mitt Romney advisor complained that President Obama doesn't "fully appreciate" our and Great Britian's special "Anglo-Saxon heritage".

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage. The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have.”

This after John Sununu pouted he wished, "this President [Obama] would learn how to be an American."

Of course, the odious Mitt Romney, Dauphin of the Plutocracy, isn't just going to let his bondsmen raise the specter of the scary dark hued Obama,

"It's a very strange and in some respects foreign to the American experience type of philosophy. His whole philosophy is an upside-down philosophy that does not comport with the American experience."

The evil myopic inability of right-wingers to even understand there exists an American experience outside their privileged White Anglo-Saxon Protestant universe is the second worst thing which infects the Republican Party and the modern conservative movement. The deference and protection Right-Wings Guard Dogs provide to the 1% and Disaster Vulture Capitalists oppressing and robbing the world being the worst.

But, Romney and the Republicans aren't ignorant or myopic. They know exactly what they are doing. Purging voter roles. Complaining about how foreign President Obama is, constantly lying about him apologizing overseas or attacking small business owners, or appeasing terrorists. Republicans are directly appealing to the conservative bigots and racists to win this election.

There is No Freedom from Rick Santorum's Religion

Rick Santorum has unleashed his thoughts upon America and they are frightening. Santorum is the latest of the Dominionist Warriors seeking to impose their christian theocracy on America.

What kind of Nation would America be if Santorum had the office of the Presidency?

His ideology is profoundly anti-human. I can't even engage in sarcastic ridicule of his beliefs because they are so abhorrent. Santorum's obsession with the sexual lives and habits of people he doesn't know, like all conservatives, shows the warped and perverted mind of a sexual predator who seeks to control, dominate or hurt people he doesn't understand.

Santorum is very afraid of "the dangers of contraception in this country." Birth control allows people to do... things... "It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be." Rick Santorum knows what's best you in the bedroom, Va-va-va-voom!

Santorum is very, very scared of Higher Education. Harkening back to the pious Medevial clerics Santorum believes learnin' lessens belief in god. "President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob! Education and the promotion of it makes President Obama a "snob". So, therefore since Rick has three college degrees — a B.A. from Penn State, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law - He's a Triple Snob or a Giant Hypocrite.

"I don’t believe in an America where the separation of Church and state is absolute. The idea that the Church can have no influence and no involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical to the objectives and vision of our country. This is the First Amendment. The First Amendment says the free exercise of religion." Santorum's interpertation of the 1st Amendment is the direct opposite of it's stated mandate.

Santorum repeatedly stated JFK's speech on the Seperation of Church and State, "makes him want to vomit". President Santorum would have had Thomas Jefferson pilloried for his 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists, "the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State."

And John Adams would have been stoned under the direction of President Santorum for signing the Treaty of Tripoli, in 1797 stating, As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

No doubt George Washington would have been immolated for arising and leaving church when the the administration of the communion took place.

Santorum believes the 1st Amendment exists to aid him and his christian fascist brethren in their attempts to oppress and dominate people. It is in line with Right-Wing Dominionist thinking. According to Right-Wingers there is only Freedom of Religion in America there is no Freedom from Religion.

Conservatives version of Religious liberty is where they are free to curtail the activities and lives of other Americans because they find something objectionable. This is in line with the Republicans turning the US Congress into the Polish Sejm.

But, as evil as Santorum is and as awful a place America would be with a High Inquisitor Santorum regulating your personal lives, the scarier realization is that when Santorum wins the Republican nomination 45% of registered voters will vote for him in the general election.

Have you heard the Good News though? 45% of registered voters translates to roughly 40 million votes or roughly 13%. The same percentage Mitt Romney pays in taxes and the same percentage that would vote for the Vulture in the general election.

Poles in the Air

I've seen many and know about a few other Polish wedding traditions, but I've never heard of the one in which the groom is thrown into the air to land on his head.

The groom's sister-in-law told Niles police that friends were throwing the man up in the air as part of a "traditional dance" when they failed to catch him, causing him to fall to the ground. The incident reportedly occurred during an Oct. 9 reception at White Eagle Banquets, 6839 N. Milwaukee.

While I can't speak to the authenticity of the fling him around till he's injured I can attest to the quality of the food at The White Eagle in Niles. So, if you chance to be driving on Milwaukee Ave stop and sample the classic Polish Cuisine.

Because, the Republicans are moving towards a Liberum Veto of their own, they call it "Bipartisanship", by declaring 51 votes in the Senate is unacceptable, the filibuster 60 is not enough and the total should be 75-80 to pass Healthcare Reform.

Why? They Object! Not that they object to Government run health care, that's what every member in Congress enjoys, a lifetime of tax payer funded care by the best physicians and hospitals in the Nation. No they object because much like in Michener's novel a group is using them to block reform. Because that reform will diminish the huge profits made off of denying care to Un-Real Americans.

Richard Shelby who has used American Money to court and invite Foreign Run Corporations into the United States and has set himself up as a Medieval Polish Aristocrat Objects! He's got a clenched fist full of foreign money jammed up his ass for whom he will hurt the United States and the American People. But, it doesn't matter to the entitled Republicans, the lives and welfare of the American People fall short to their Prime Goal: Mission Accomplishment; that Mission being the enrichment of themselves, their cronies and the Corporate Masters whom they dutifully serve.
