Ringin' in the New Year American style; with a Mass Casualty Event

     While the Nation and World watch in horror as the cavalcade of criminals and cranks coalesce around Mar-a-Lago true American horror was visited upon America and innocent people yet again.

In New Orleans, a mass murderer drove his car giant pickup truck into a large crowd of people in the French Quarter, at Bourbon Street and Canal Street, apparently exited and began shooting into the crowd.

"When we were in the bar we didn’t hear shooting or crashes because the music was so loud," Whit Davis  from Shreveport, Louisiana, told BBC. People then started running and hiding under tables, he adds, "like it was an active shooter drill". 

Police then held him and a group of people in the bar and when they were allowed to leave, he says they "were walking past dead and injured bodies all over the street".

Right now the details are fragmentary but, according to local officials and the FBI, the incident began at about 0315, the suspect drove around barricades and police vehicles shooting two officers before driving into the crowd.  NOLA Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick stated, "very intentional behaviour" and he was "trying to run over as many people as he possibly could".

At this time reports are 10 people killed and 35 wounded.  We, of course, as a society have been numb and inured to these sort of things.  In a large part because we know it will never happen to us or because we have to believe that in order not to go mad.  

Empty Thoughts & Hollow Prayers will of course be offered by the usual do-nothing suspects who will join in with the real bad actors who will politicize and jump upon this sort of thing to push their racist and fascist ideology.  Recall how Elon and JD Vance blamed muslims and endorsed the AfD (Neo-Nazis) in Germany after a mass casualty attack, which of course, was perpetrated by a far right terrorist.

Defund the Police will be blamed and Trump will declare he will unshackle the Police to stop this American Carnage (yet again) and white people will cheer.  Of course, these things aren't responsible for this anymore than when rightwingers will take to "X" to blame big city Democrats, or blacks (cause New Orleans), or video games or lack of access to pussy (in case the killer is a white boy) and ignore the fundamental causes of these incidents.

So, please take care of yourselves and your families as we approach MAGA's fascist takeover of the entire Federal Government this month.

As befits his lying ass, Traitor Trump issued a statement about New Orleans declaring, ""The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before."

Homicides in Milwaukee and Chicago are down and the rate across the country has decreased for the 3rd straight year.  The high point of course was under the 1st Trump maladministration.
