While the rich, ever a self-conscious minority in a republican state, were constantly driven by the fear of danger, even when no danger existed in fact, to take aggressive and oppressive measures to head off the slightest threat to their property. - Douglas Adair, The Extended Republic, The Intellectual Origins of Jeffersonian DemocracyThe Defeat of Barack Hussein Obama: The Ricketts Plan to End his Spending for Good is the Title of Joe Ricketts 54 page, $10,000,000 dollar proposal designed to prove that President Obama is not the "metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln" America thought and laments that Americans "still aren't ready to hate this President."
According to the second page of the proposal, Joe Ricketts said it himself, "If this Nation had seen that ad they never would have elected Barack Obama."
The ads in question will try to paint Barack Obama as an angry black militant who learned his anti-Americanism from his father and then from Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr. Joe Ricketts belief is the McCain Campaign's decision not run the blatantly racist ads ultimately lead to McCain/Palin's defeat.
Since his election the Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who wish to turn this country into a giant camp of Wage Slaves have had one goal for 2012; attack President Obama so often, on so many fronts, for so many perceived slights, with so many baseless accusations, and so savagely that it would cause amongst the American People a sort of Weariness. A Fatigue of let's just get back to some Republican stooge whom the Media fawns over and conservatives forgive every transgression so that we may be left alone. But, Right-Wingers are never going to leave you alone. The want total Hegemonic Domination of the Government so that they may institute their Totalitarian Control over the lives and minds of the American People.
Joe Ricketts is the Patriarch of the family who owns the Chicago Cubs. And this is the key to this man's thinking. As a billionaire Plutocrat Joe Ricketts feels it is entirely acceptable to have the Tax Payers of Illinois and the resident's of Chicago provide his family hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild and spruce up Wrigley Field. After all he's the elite. He's the Job Creator. He's the good guy. [See My Post: Illinois Taxpayer Welfare for the Billionaire Ricketts Family to rebuild Wrigley Field?
It's abhorrent that Plutocrats, like Joe Ricketts, have successfully created a Country in which they Privatize their Profits and Subsidize their Losses, but now they want their companies borne aloft on the backs of the Tax Payer. Oil Companies have long been able to shift the burden of running their business onto the backs of the Middle Class and Poor and it seems the Plutocrats of this Nation realize that their campaign to demonize Barack Obama could result in the election of Mitt Romney who has guaranteed to slash programs for the Poor, raise taxes on the Middle Class and transfer Trillions of dollars to the Rich.
As I wrote in my previous post,
Private business, the Free Market, "Job Creators", and a Government not involved in "picking winners and losers" is a the biggest myth peddled by the evil Republican Party and their Right-Wing lackeys. What the Republicans want and what they get their Conservative Media Goons to report ad nauseam is a Government controlled by the 1% and aligned to cater to the Plutocracy's interest. That is what is driving Joe Rickett's "Ending the Spending" PAC. Ricketts is of the 1% who firmly believes that spending tax dollars on teachers pensions or healthcare coverage for sick and elderly people is ignorant evil socialism. Spending hundreds of millions of Tax Payer dollars on a baseball ballpark is Righteous Goodness.
The Founding Fathers greatly feared the Income Inequality situation we have today. Most were afraid the multitudinous poor would rise up and slaughter the rich few but, it wasn't unforeseen to them that the rich might exert Oligarchical Control over the Nation, as well.
"In all the governments which were considered as beacons to the republican patriots and lawgivers, the rights of persons were subjected to those of property. The poor were sacrificed to the rich," - James Madison, Father of the Constitution, 4th President of the United States. This packet was produced on May 10, 2012, but didn't come to everyone's attention until a week later.
As soon as the details emerged, Joe Ricketts backed away from the plan with this statement,
Not only was this plan merely a proposal - one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors - but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take. Mr. Ricketts intends to work hard to help elect a President this fall who shares his commitment to economic responsibility, but his efforts are and will continue to be focused entirely on questions of fiscal policy, not attacks that seek to divide us socially or culturally. So, Ricketts doesn't even have the courage of his convictions. Like all Koch-roaches, Ricketts wants to do his dirty work in secret, under the coverage of his anonymous PAC. Slandering and demonizing the President, from the cover of darkness, like a coward.
Well, guess what? Joe had just better hope enough frat boys continue to patronize his park and drink the piss warm overpriced Miller Lite he peddles. The Chicago Cubs just lost a supporter. I've been a Chicago Cubs fans since 1982. Ryne Sandberg was my favorite player as child. I'll never go to Wrigley Field again.
His pac isn't really anonymous, is it?
ReplyDeleteEverything you describe pertains equally to dems and repubs. We have a pay for play government.
So what's your solution?
Now now, it's only "socialism" when low- and middle-income people receive taxpayers' money. When people's tax dollars are redistributed upward to the already-wealthy, that's...well, it's NOT socialism. No. It can't be.
ReplyDeleteReally, this story is about one thing and one thing only. The Cubs have figured out one more way to be losers.
ReplyDeleteSilverfiddle the Rich are the problem. But, you've stated numerous times that you believe the Democrats/Government are the problem.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Rich, the 1% and those who act their guard dogs to cement their control of Government whom are the problem. For instance Bill O'Reilly in his role of Protector of the Rich (of whom he is a solid member) declares disclosure and openness to be economic/political terrorism.
O’Reilly: Some believe this is economic terrorism…not economic, political terrorism. That targeting a business man like you, running an honest business, because of your freedom to donate to who you want to donate to, but try to ruin you personally and professionally, that’s terrorism. Political terrorism. Do you see it that way?
They want to intimidate you from giving any money to the campaign, and others like you who might be thinking of it. Business people go “I’m not gonna do that. They might put my name on the web and I’ll lose customers. So I’m not gonna do it.” But that’s terrorism.
VanderSloot: I suppose it is.
Knowing what Rich Corrupt asshole is buying Mitt Romney is "TERRORISM", but knowing who bought Obama isn't!!! Disclosure is terrorism... That's 5 times O'Reilly stated TERRORISM.
So, getting the Rich out of control is preferable to the situation we have today.
For this we can look back at the Founding Fathers. They were concerned about the Rich creating a moneyed faction of worthless Oligarchs, they didn't realize the exponentially increased power the 1% have today.
Madison fully expected the robber barons and the inhuman conditions they were going to foist onto the poor. He predicted by 1930, the weight of the poor to be "reduced by competition for employment to wages which afford them the bare necessaries of life."
So, it's the rich, especially those who make money off of legerdemain, as courtiers and as gamblers, whose power needs to be curtailed and it's never going to happen.
Tom Harper, exactly. Mainly, the Right but aided by some corrupted Democrats, the Rich have been buying the Government wholesale. And now they aren't just content with receiving bailouts they want the government to pay them for their business expenses as well. But, that's called Free Market Capitalism...
ReplyDeleteGreen Eagle, The Free Market affords me the option of being a White Sox fan, which I now "am". But, if there ever was an institution which is socialist, it should be baseball.
The Yankees don't get to be the Yankees if every other team goes out of business and the sport devolves to just the Bronx Bombers, even though they could *proclaim* themselves the "World" Champions every year.
I wonder if Geo. W. Bush was the role model for Joe Ricketts. When Bush owned the Texas Rangers, they played on a field that was barely a step up from a high school field. The Texas Rangers were losing value. So Bush convinced the taxpayers of Arlington to take on a massive debt to build a brand new fancy stadium for the Rangers. Georgey-Porgey was then able to sell the Rangers for a tidy sum.
ReplyDeleteI became a White Sox fan when I lived in North Chicago in the early seventies.
ReplyDeleteAnd Gene is correct and to add, sports teams should be owned by the municipalities. They are held hostage by them with demands for new stadiums and free parking and tax breaks and whatever other taxpayer funded largess they can get.
The Green Bay Packers are on of the most successful franchises ever. Publically owned.
On the Cubs, the field was redone 4 seasons ago to replace the slopping design.
ReplyDeleteThe Ricketts have been using Wrigley as a venue for multiple events, concerts, college football to squeeze as much $$$ out of the ballpark, the ridiculous Northwestern game had to be played all in one direction.
But as for this story it's getting seedier. Right-Wingers are convinced Mitt Romney is letting all his Billionaire boyfriends play bad guy spending millions in their PACs to attack President Obama. Charles Johnson over at LGF has this to say,
But some in the right-wing blogosphere think that Romney actually is offering “wink wink nudge nudge” support for the smear campaigns, and is simply employing the strategy of “good cop, bad cop” alongside his surrogates.
So, basically Romney is still a despicable bully, rounding up a gang of his entitled rich ass buddies to try to hurt someone. But, unlike his high school days President Romney promises the pain to be much deeper as he'll cut taxes on the Rich and raise them on the rest of America...
Truth I'll have a post on Jerry Reinsdorf and the way an owner should be...
Do yo even want to know about Indianapolis and "Peyton's Place"?
ReplyDeletePlus, how the city went in the hole by a couple million to host the Superbowl.
Guess who pays for that...
Oh, assholes like Ricketts are a dime a dozen.
Go Cardinals...
