Not sure any specific age is as important as life events (e.g. homeownership, marriage, kids, etc.) and the realization of how those local races that most people don't research probably affects me as much, if not more so, than who I cast my Presidential vote for (especially in our non-swing state). But anyway, like you said, if they can serve, they can vote.ranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10584685394945176255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293433952655399056.post-90311766154097710472012-06-05T12:16:14.764-05:002012-06-05T12:16:14.764-05:00Gene- It's funny that you mention the military...Gene- It's funny that you mention the military. Because when I go back and forth with my feelings on this issue. The one thing I always come back to is the Constitution. In the end, even though I don't agree with it (Ran brought up a good point however) the voting age has to stay at 18. I mean, how can we amend the Constitution to make the voting age 25. Then turn around and ask an 18 year old to join the service, and defend that same document.

Ran- When I write about life experiences, I am speaking of my own. I am 36, and I know for a fact that I am a better voter than I was when I was 18. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty of 18 year old kids that are more educated today than I was, especially with computers in the fold. I am also willing to bet that there are plenty of 60 year old people that are complete f##king retards.

All the evidence does point to the fact that Conservatives want to restrict voting age, just because they feel it would be less votes for Democrats.

Me personally, I just think kids are wiser at 21. But like I said, if an 18 year old kid can defend my liberties, how can we tell that kid that he can not participate in the Democratic process.J.O.B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12180244268084796661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293433952655399056.post-85058180687495191322012-06-05T09:56:16.653-05:002012-06-05T09:56:16.653-05:00Considering some of the current batch of voter ID ...Considering some of the current batch of voter ID laws are working to disenfranchise military members from voting from abroad, I guess our troops don't qualify as the "Right" kind of voters.ranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10584685394945176255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293433952655399056.post-75176576705088628432012-06-05T08:54:21.694-05:002012-06-05T08:54:21.694-05:00Oh ran don't worry the "Right" voter...Oh ran don't worry the "Right" voters don't join up for military service anyway.

Let Us Never Forget the service Max Blumenthal did us when he showcased Generation: Chickenhawk The Unauthorized College Republican National Convention Tour.Grung_e_Genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01894879088472559055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293433952655399056.post-43239275816736260852012-06-05T08:19:26.635-05:002012-06-05T08:19:26.635-05:00I've seen many 18 year olds cast more informed...I've seen many 18 year olds cast more informed votes than many 60 year olds. Life experience closes as many minds as it opens.

Regardless, any Constitutional amendment to raise the voting age should increase the minimum age for military service to match. I do not like the fact that citizens are allowed to vote at 18.
It has nothing to do with how they vote, or whom they vote for. I just think they are too immature and have little to no life experience. Believe me, I know. When I was 18, I was completely retarded when it came to the world.
