Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Pro Pedophila and Child Rape Advocate

"Look, you wait ‘til they get to be 20-years-old and the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they’re about fifteen or sixteen and they’ll pick your ducks.” (emphasis added) From Freakout Nation.
This comes from 2009. Like Ted Nugent, Phil Robertson apparently loves Pedophilia. Now, at this point we don't know if he is actively engaged in child rape, like Ted Nugent, but telling Georgia Southerners that a girl's gotta be married at 15 or 16 is nothing less than a full-throated endorsement of Raping little girls.

It's interesting that in rushing to make Robertson the next Right-Wing Faux Martyr that conservatives don't care or don't mind that he's obviously a sick and twisted man. Or, more likely, it's his perverted disgusting views which draws them to him.

Unfortunately, conservatives will just rally around this pro-pedophile because of their nonsensical Freedom of Speech ignorance. Ignoring the fact, that calls to boycott A&E or calls to suspend Phil Robertson are not an abridgment of Freedom of Speech. It is censorship but, choosing to vilify a despicable racist, homophobic pedophile is nothing more than the Free Market at work.

The only violation of the First Amendment in regards to Duck Dynasty that occurred was by Republicans, who used their position in Government to advocate Robertson's specific"religious" views.
"If the Robertson family cannot come to an agreement with A&E and wants to continue the show, Louisiana already has the infrastructure in place to maintain their record-breaking program," Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne, in his declaration to violate the 1st Amendment.
Alabama State Sen. Jerry Fielding, R-Sylacauga, will introduce a Senate resolution in support of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson in the upcoming state legislative session.

Clear violations but, always acceptable because conservatives in government are nothing but, hypocritical bigots who pick and choose what Rule of Law, Constitutional Amendments, Religious Views, and Natural Rights they support and which ones they violate.

Nonetheless, I again entreat all Republicans to align themselves with the enunciated Duck Dynasty Ethics; Bigotry, Hatred and Pedophilia. Republicans all stand in support of these principles so let every voter know it.

  1. That clip from Freakout Nation is a classic example of the fallacy of pulling a short segment from a larger video to make a false point.

Phil does not exhibit symptoms of pediophilia, homophobia, or racism in real time when viewed in context.

  2. Of course Phil thinks girls should get married at 15 or 16. Miss Kay was 16 when he married her. They've been married for 50 years. That's fairly simple math -- he's 67 now, so he was 17. Much as I would love to criticize Phil, what he's advocating is that other young people do the same thing he and his wife did: marry young. It's stupid, because it's a highly simplistic view of the world (i.e., he's thinking that because it worked for him and Kay it's good for everyone), but it's not pedophilia.

  3. I think both sides are making way too much noise about what this man has said. Some are condemning him for what he has said and others are leaping to his defense (like Palin who didn't even bother to read what he said) claiming he is being persecuted for his religion and being denied his "Freedom of Speech". The fact is he said some stupid stuff and even tho he believes what he said, that doesn't make it any less stupid. Let's just move on or we'll end up making him another Sarah Palin (can we all ignore the shit she says already!!) or Joe the Plumber (who wasn't Joe or a plumber!!)

  4. Perhaps Nan, but your argument sounds (to me) like a 'That's there culture' defense.

    Kulkuri,
I am receptive to your argument that by giving this knuckle-dragging troglodyte airtime you empower him otoh, by highlighting his beliefs we can draw out the Republicans running for office who will enact putrid inhuman policies. Like, comparing Robertson to Rosa Parks.

Oh who am I kidding the entire Rape-publican party is a hive of oppression, subjugation and adulation of the rich.

  5. Sloppy language annoys the crap out of me regardless of which side of the political spectrum is doing it. You don't like Phil Robertson (neither do I, for that matter) so you want to redefine pedophilia. Pedophiliacs are attracted to children who have not yet reached puberty. Two teenagers getting married doesn't qualify as pedophilia, and the fact Phil thinks that because it getting married worked for him it'll work for other teens (1 Corinthians 7:9) might be rooted in his bible-thumping background, but it's not perverted. Just stupid. And pointing out he's being stupid is not exactly a ringing endorsement of Robertson, nor is it a sweeping endorsement of hillbilly culture.

  6. Nan,

I accept your reasoning but, quite technically and legally here in Illinois the definition of child is someone under 17 years of age when it comes to sexual consent. (720 ILCS 5/11-6)

    (a) A person of the age of 17 years and upwards commits the offense of indecent solicitation of
a child if the person, with the intent that the offense of aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, or aggravated criminal sexual abuse be committed, knowingly solicits a child or one whom he or she believes to be a child to perform an act of sexual penetration or sexual conduct as defined in Section 12-12 of this Code.

    (b) Definitions. As used in this Section:

"Solicit" means to command, authorize, urge, incite, request, or advise another to perform an act by any means including, but not limited to, in person, over the phone, in writing, by computer, or by advertisement of any
    kind.

"Child" means a person under 17 years of age.

Yes, yes, yes, I know and accept that age laws can be considered arbitrary but as an LEO, I don't make that decision. So, I am not redefining pedophilia capriciously.

  7. Hey Gene,

Since you want to get hung up over definitions how about reading this one. It's not straight out of the DSM but pretty close.

As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia (USA spelling) or paedophilia (British spelling) is a psychiatric disorder in persons 16 years of age or older typically characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest toward prepubescent children (generally age 11 years or younger, though specific diagnostic criteria for the disorder extends the cut-off point for prepubescence to age 13). An adolescent who is 16 years of age or older must be at least five years older than the prepubescent child before the attraction can be diagnosed as pedophilia.

Illinois and Arkansas law may differ but the DSM is recognized nation wide. You may not like Phil but he is not at all guilty of pedophilia.
